How to use the Unlock PDF

  1. Choose the password-protected PDF.
  2. Enter the password you use to open it.
  3. Click Unlock PDF; an incorrect password is reported clearly.
  4. Download the unlocked copy.

Why remove a PDF password?

Banks, credit card companies, insurance firms and government services send PDFs protected with a password: often your date of birth, PAN, customer ID or a mix. That protects them in your inbox, but it gets in the way when you need to upload the statement to a loan or visa portal, merge several statements, compress the file, or print without typing the password each time. Many portals reject password-protected files outright.

This tool does not crack passwords

You must know the password. The tool opens the file with the password you provide, exactly as a PDF reader would, and saves a copy without encryption. It cannot guess or bypass passwords, and it is intended only for your own documents or ones you are authorised to use.

Common statement passwords

Banks usually explain the password format in the e-mail that carries the statement. Typical formats combine the first letters of your name with your date of birth (DDMM or DDMMYYYY), your customer ID, or your PAN in capitals. e-Aadhaar PDFs use the first four letters of your name in capitals plus your year of birth. Check the exact rule in the original e-mail or on the issuer’s website.

After unlocking

Keep unlocked copies safe

An unlocked statement can be read by anyone who gets the file. Share it only where needed and delete copies you no longer need. The unlocking itself happens entirely in your browser: neither your file nor your password is sent to our servers.

Quick answers

Does unlocking change the content? No, pages remain exactly the same. Can I lock it again? Most PDF readers and printers can save a new protected copy if you need one.
