How to use the Cover Letter

  1. Enter your name, contact details and the date.
  2. Add the hiring manager, company and job title.
  3. Describe your experience, key achievements and why this company.
  4. Review and edit the wording in the preview, then download the PDF.

Why a cover letter still matters

A resume lists what you’ve done; a cover letter explains why you’re right for this particular job and company. Many recruiters read it to judge communication skills and genuine interest, and it can tip the balance between similar candidates, especially for career changers, freshers and roles involving writing or client contact.

A proven structure

  1. Opening: the role you’re applying for and a one-line reason you’re a strong fit.
  2. Evidence: two or three achievements that match the job description, ideally with numbers.
  3. Why this company: something specific: their product, customers, values or growth.
  4. Close: thank them and invite a conversation.

This generator follows that structure, filling in your details. Treat the output as a strong first draft and personalise it.

Tips

  • Address a person by name if you can find it; otherwise “Hiring Manager” is fine.
  • Keep it under one page, about 250–350 words.
  • Match keywords from the job description, but don’t copy it.
  • Don’t repeat your resume line by line; highlight what matters most.
  • Proofread names, company spellings and the job title carefully.

Pair it with your resume

Create a matching resume with the resume maker. If a portal wants a single file, combine both with merge PDF. Everything is generated in your browser.

Example opening lines

  • “I am applying for the Accounts Executive role at XYZ Ltd. With three years of GST filing and reconciliation experience, I can help your team close books faster.”
  • “As a final-year B.Tech student who built two full-stack projects used by 500+ students, I am excited to apply for your Software Engineering Internship.”

Notice how each names the role, the company and one concrete strength in the first two sentences. Recruiters decide quickly whether to keep reading.

Finally, save it as a PDF named with your name and the role, such as “Anita-Sharma-Cover-Letter.pdf”.
