How to use the Convert Image
- Select the images you want to convert; mixing formats is fine.
- Choose the target format: JPG, PNG or WebP.
- Adjust quality and optional maximum size.
- Click Convert and download each file or all as a ZIP.
Why convert image formats?
Different places accept different formats. iPhones save photos as HEIC, which many government portals, Windows PCs and older apps can’t open. Websites increasingly serve WebP, but when you download a WebP image many forms reject it. And PNG screenshots are far bigger than needed for sharing. Converting to the right format solves these problems in seconds.
Which format to choose
- JPG: the universal choice for photos and forms. Small, accepted everywhere.
- PNG: lossless, supports transparency. Best for logos, diagrams, screenshots with text.
- WebP: modern and smaller than JPG; ideal for websites and blogs.
Popular conversions
- HEIC to JPG: share iPhone photos with Windows users or upload them to forms.
- WebP to JPG: make images downloaded from websites usable in documents and forms.
- PNG to JPG: shrink screenshots and photos saved as PNG, often by 80% or more.
- JPG to WebP: speed up your website’s images.
Transparency and quality
JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas in PNG or WebP become white when converted to JPG. Keep PNG or WebP if you need a transparent background. Quality 90%+ is recommended for conversions where you don’t want visible changes; lower it only if you also want smaller files. To target an exact size, follow up with the KB resizer; to shrink many photos, see the image compressor.
Nothing leaves your device
Conversion, including HEIC decoding, happens in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded, so you can safely convert personal pictures and documents.
Should I convert HEIC photos permanently?
HEIC files are about half the size of JPGs at similar quality, so keep your originals on your phone. Convert copies to JPG only when you need to share them with Windows users, websites or forms. On iPhone you can also set Camera formats to “Most Compatible” to shoot in JPG, at the cost of more storage.
