Kruti Dev to Unicode Converter
Convert Hindi text between the Kruti Dev 010 font and Unicode (Mangal), in both directions.
How to use the Kruti Dev Converter
- Choose the direction: Kruti Dev → Unicode or Unicode → Kruti Dev.
- Paste your text (Kruti Dev text looks like English letters outside its font).
- Copy the converted text.
- For Kruti Dev output, paste it into a document and set the font to Kruti Dev 010.
Why two kinds of Hindi text?
Kruti Dev is a legacy font widely used in government offices, typing institutes and old documents. It stores Hindi using English keyboard characters and only looks like Hindi when the Kruti Dev font is applied; in any other font, “fgUnh” is just letters. Unicode (often shown in the Mangal font) stores real Hindi characters, so it works on websites, phones, WhatsApp and search engines.
When you need this converter
- Opening an old Kruti Dev document on a computer without the font shows gibberish: convert it to Unicode.
- Government typing tests and some offices still require Kruti Dev: convert your Unicode text to Kruti Dev.
- Publishing old Kruti Dev material online needs Unicode so it can be searched and read on phones.
What makes Kruti Dev conversion tricky
Kruti Dev stores text in visual order. The short-i matra (ि) is typed before its consonant, and the reph (र् written on top, as in कार्य) is typed after its letter. Simple find-and-replace converters get these wrong. This converter maps characters using longest-match rules and then moves ि and the reph to their correct positions, so words like हिन्दी, स्थिति, कार्य and धर्म convert correctly.
Tips
- Copy Kruti Dev text as plain text from your document; don’t retype it.
