How to use the Wi-Fi QR

  1. Enter your network name (SSID) exactly as it appears.
  2. Choose the security type and enter the password.
  3. Tick 'Hidden network' if your SSID isn't broadcast.
  4. Scan the preview to test, then download and print.

How Wi-Fi QR codes work

Android and iPhone cameras understand a special Wi-Fi QR format containing the network name, security type and password. When scanned, the phone offers to join the network straight away. It’s perfect for homes, offices, cafés, clinics, homestays and events, and it keeps complex passwords secure because nobody needs to read them aloud.

Getting the details right

  • Network name: must match exactly, including capital letters and spaces. Check it in your phone’s Wi-Fi list.
  • Security: most modern routers use WPA2 or WPA3, which is the “WPA” option. Choose WEP only for very old routers, and “No password” for open networks.
  • Special characters in names or passwords (like ; , : or quotes) are escaped automatically, a common cause of failures with other generators.

Printing and placement

Print the QR at least 4–5 cm wide and place it where guests can easily scan it: a reception desk, a table tent, a fridge magnet or a guest room. Add a line like “Scan to join Wi-Fi” and the network name. SVG downloads print sharply at any size.

Security tips

  • Anyone who can see the QR can join your network. For businesses, use a separate guest network, which most routers support.
  • If you change the Wi-Fi password, create and print a new QR code.
  • Your password is converted to a QR image entirely in your browser and never sent to our servers.

Quick answers

Does the QR code work on older phones? Android 10 and later and iOS 11 and later scan Wi-Fi codes with the camera; older phones may need a QR app. Can I make codes for several networks? Yes, create one per network and label each.

Frequently asked questions

WPA/WPA2/WPA3 for almost all modern routers.
The QR doesn't connect. What's wrong?
Check the network name and password exactly, including capitals and spaces, and the security type.
