Image Compressor
Shrink many photos at once with a quality slider and optional maximum size, then download them all as a ZIP.
Your files never leave your device. Processing happens in your browser.
How to use the Compress Image
- Select one or many images (you can add more later).
- Choose the output format, quality and optional maximum width/height.
- Click Compress and watch each file's before and after size.
- Download files individually or all together as a ZIP.
Why compress images?
Phone photos are often 3–8 MB each. That slows down WhatsApp sharing, e-mail attachments, website pages and cloud backups. Compressing reduces the file size by removing detail your eye barely notices and, optionally, by reducing the pixel dimensions. A 5 MB photo commonly drops to 300–600 KB with no visible difference on screen.
Choosing the right settings
- Quality 70–80% is the sweet spot for photos: big savings, no visible loss.
- Maximum width/height 2000 px is plenty for phones and laptop screens; use 1200 px for websites and e-mail. Set 0 to keep original dimensions.
- Same format keeps JPG as JPG and PNG as PNG. Choose WebP for websites; it is usually 25–35% smaller than JPG at similar quality.
PNG is different
PNG is a lossless format, so the quality slider does not apply. It only gets smaller when you reduce its dimensions. For photos saved as PNG (common with screenshots of photos), converting to JPG or WebP gives far larger savings.
Need an exact size in KB?
This compressor is quality-based, which suits batches. When a form demands “under 50 KB”, use the KB resizer instead; it finds the best quality for your exact limit.
Private batch processing
Each image is compressed on your device in a background worker, so even dozens of photos never leave your computer or phone. The ZIP download keeps your original file names. To change formats without compressing, see the image converter.
How much can I save?
| Original | Setting | Typical result |
|---|---|---|
| 5 MB phone photo | JPG 75%, max 2000 px | 400–700 KB |
| 5 MB phone photo | WebP 75%, max 1200 px | 100–200 KB |
| 2 MB PNG screenshot | JPG 80% | 150–300 KB |
Results depend on the image; busy, detailed photos stay larger than simple ones.
Tip: compress a copy for sharing and keep the full-quality originals in your gallery or cloud backup.
