- Tap Rotate left, Rotate right or 180°, and Flip if needed.
- Check the live preview.
- Download the corrected image.
Why photos end up sideways
Phones store a photo’s orientation as a hidden tag rather than rotating the pixels. Some apps, older computers and many upload forms ignore that tag, so the photo appears sideways. Scanned documents can also come out rotated if the page was placed the wrong way. Rotating here saves the pixels in the correct orientation, so the image looks right everywhere.
Rotate or flip: what’s the difference?
- Rotate turns the whole image 90° or 180°, like turning a printed photo on a table.
- Flip horizontal creates a mirror image, useful for selfies that show text backwards.
- Flip vertical turns the image upside down as a mirror, occasionally needed for scans and design work.
Quality
Rotating by right angles is exact, and the image keeps its full resolution. JPG images are re-saved at high quality (92%), PNG and WebP keep their format. The dimensions swap when you rotate by 90°, so a 3000 × 4000 photo becomes 4000 × 3000.
Common fixes
- A document scan uploaded sideways to a portal: rotate right or left, then compress with the 200 KB resizer.
- A mirrored selfie with reversed text: flip horizontal.
- Pages for a PDF: rotate first, then combine with Image to PDF. For PDFs that are already made, use rotate PDF.
Private
Rotation happens in your browser; your image is not uploaded or stored.
Quick answers
Can I rotate by a custom angle like 5°? This tool rotates in right angles only, which keeps quality perfect; for slight tilts, retake the photo straight or crop the edges. Can I rotate many photos at once? Rotate them one by one here; the process takes a second each. Does rotating remove location data? Yes, the saved image has no EXIF metadata, including GPS location, which is good for privacy when sharing.
