QR Code Scanner
Read a QR code from an image or with your camera, and see what it contains before you act on it.
Your files never leave your device. Processing happens in your browser.
How to use the QR Scanner
- Upload a screenshot or photo of the QR code, or tap 'Scan with camera'.
- Allow camera access if you use the camera.
- Read the decoded text or link.
- Copy it, or open the link after checking the address.
Scan QR codes without an app
Sometimes the QR code you need is on your own phone screen (a screenshot, a WhatsApp image, a PDF), so you can’t point your camera at it. This scanner reads QR codes from uploaded images. On a laptop or phone, you can also scan with the camera directly in the browser.
See before you open
QR codes can hide malicious links. Unlike camera apps that jump straight to the destination, this tool shows the full content first so you can check it. Look carefully at the web address: fake sites often use misspellings or odd domains. For UPI codes, the result shows the payee’s UPI ID and name; confirm them in your UPI app before paying.
A common scam to avoid
Fraudsters sometimes send a QR code saying “scan to receive money”. With UPI, scanning a QR and entering your PIN always sends money; you never need to scan or enter a PIN to receive. Don’t scan QR codes from unknown callers, sellers on marketplaces or unexpected messages.
Tips for successful scans
- Make sure the whole code is in the image, including the white border.
- Use a sharp, well-lit photo; blurry or angled photos may fail.
- For camera scanning, hold steady about 15–25 cm from the code.
- Very small codes in large screenshots scan better if you crop them first.
Privacy
Images and camera frames are processed in your browser; nothing is uploaded. Camera access is used only while scanning and stops when you’re done. To create codes, try the QR code generator or UPI QR generator.
Quick answers
Can it read barcodes? It reads QR codes only; for product barcodes use a barcode scanner app. Does it work offline? Image scanning does, once the page is loaded.
Tip: if a code won’t scan from a photo, try a screenshot instead, which is usually sharper.
