Type Hindi without a Hindi keyboard

Phonetic typing (transliteration) lets you write Hindi the way it sounds, using the English keyboard you already know. Type namaste and get नमस्ते, bhaarat becomes भारत. It’s the easiest way to write Hindi messages, letters, social posts and forms on any computer or phone.

How to type

• Consonants: k क, kh ख, g ग, ch च, j ज, t त, th थ, d द, dh ध, n न, p प, b ब, bh भ, m म, y य, r र, l ल, v व, s स, sh श, h ह.
• Retroflex sounds use capitals: T ट, Th ठ, D ड, Dh ढ, N ण, Sh ष.
• Vowel signs: aa ा, i ि, ee ी, u ु, oo ू, e े, ai ै, o ो, au ौ, Ri ृ.
• Bindu and more: M ं (as in maiM मैं), ~ ँ, H ः, and a full stop . becomes ।.
• Conjuncts form automatically when consonants meet: vidyaalay → विद्यालय, kShamaa → क्षमा.

The short “a” after a consonant is built in, so write long vowels explicitly: raam for राम, ram gives रम.

Unicode Hindi works everywhere

The output is standard Unicode Devanagari, the same text used by Google, WhatsApp, Word and government websites.
