How to use the Age As On Date

  1. Enter your date of birth.
  2. Enter the 'age as on' date from the notification (today by default).
  3. Read your age in years, months and days, plus totals in months, weeks and days.

What “age as on” means

Recruitment and entrance notifications never ask for your age today. They fix a cut-off date, such as “age as on 01.08.2026”, and your eligibility is judged on your completed age on that date. Two candidates born a day apart can be on opposite sides of a limit, so an exact calculation matters.

How the calculation works

The tool counts completed years first, then completed months, then the remaining days. When a monthly anniversary doesn’t exist (for example, if you were born on the 31st and the month has 30 days), the anniversary falls on the last day of that month. People born on 29 February complete a year on 28 February in non-leap years. This is the common convention, and the totals in months, weeks and days are shown too.

Using it for eligibility

If the notification says “minimum 18 and maximum 27 years as on 1 August 2026”, enter your date of birth and 1 August 2026. You are eligible if the result is at least 18 years 0 months 0 days and not more than 27 years 11 months 30 days, in other words you have not completed 28. Notifications often also state the eligible birth-date range directly, such as “born not earlier than 02.08.1998 and not later than 01.08.2008”. For category relaxations and the exact birth-date window, use the exam age limit checker.

Common cut-off dates

  • Many central recruitment exams use 1 January or 1 August of the exam year.
  • University admissions often use 31 December or the start of the academic year.
  • School admissions in several states use 31 March or 1 April.

Always use the exact date printed in your notification. For general everyday age, including your next birthday, see the age calculator.

Tip

Save the result as a screenshot with your application records in case of any later eligibility query.
