How to use the Blur Image

  1. Upload the photo or screenshot.
  2. Drag over each area you want to hide; add as many boxes as needed.
  3. Choose Pixelate, Blur or Black box and set the strength.
  4. Download the image; use Undo if you hid the wrong area.

Why redact before sharing

Screenshots, ID card photos and documents often contain more than you intend to share: your full Aadhaar number, PAN, bank account, address, phone number, or other people’s faces. Once an image is sent on WhatsApp or posted online, you can’t take it back. Hiding those details first is a simple habit that protects you from fraud and misuse.

Pixelate, blur or black box?

  • Black box replaces the area completely. It is the safest choice for ID numbers, passwords and bank details.
  • Pixelate turns the area into large blocks. It looks cleaner than a box and suits faces and addresses. Use a high strength for text.
  • Blur softens the area smoothly for a more natural look, good for backgrounds and bystanders’ faces.

Weak pixelation or blur on short text can sometimes be guessed, so use a strong setting or a black box for anything important.

Sharing your Aadhaar safely

Many services only need to verify your identity, not store your full Aadhaar number. Where accepted, UIDAI’s masked Aadhaar shows only the last four digits. If you are sharing a photo of your card, hide the first eight digits here before sending. Also consider hiding the QR code, date of birth and address when they are not needed.

Tips

  • Draw boxes slightly larger than the text so no edges of characters remain.
  • Zoom into the preview before downloading to check nothing is readable.
  • To share a redacted image as a document, convert it with Image to PDF.

Private by design

This tool runs in your browser. The original image, which is exactly the sensitive thing, is never uploaded to our servers.

What else to hide

Bank account numbers on cheques and passbooks, UPI IDs, OTPs visible in screenshots, vehicle number plates, children’s faces in public posts, and QR codes on tickets and boarding passes.
