- Review the before and after preview and the final size.
- Download the compressed JPG.
50 KB: room for a good-quality photo
Fifty kilobytes is a comfortable budget. At typical form dimensions a portrait photo keeps natural skin tones and sharp eyes, and even a larger image around 600 × 800 pixels looks clean. That makes 50 KB popular with university admission portals, scholarship schemes, recruitment forms and many state government services.
When you need exactly 50 KB, not just “under”
The tool aims just below the limit to keep the highest possible quality. If your form also has a minimum (for example “between 20 KB and 50 KB”), the result will normally land close to 50 KB and comfortably pass. If you need exact pixel dimensions as well, the exam resizer handles size, pixels and DPI together.
Documents and certificates
A 50 KB limit also appears for scanned documents such as caste certificates or mark sheets. For text-heavy scans:
- Scan or photograph in bright, even light so text stays dark and paper stays white.
- Crop away the table or background around the page with the image cropper.
- If the form accepts PDF, the PDF compressor may give better text clarity for multi-page documents.
Why the file isn't exactly 50 KB
We stop under 50,000 bytes. Portals that measure in 1,024-byte kilobytes will see about 48.8 KB, those using 1,000-byte kilobytes will see just under 50 KB, and both accept it.
No upload, no watermark
Everything runs in your browser; your photo is never sent to a server and the output has no watermark. For smaller limits, see the 20 KB page; for scans, try 100 KB.
Troubleshooting
If the portal still says “file too large”, it may measure size differently or also check pixel dimensions. Try the 50 KB result again after cropping, or use the exam resizer with the exact pixel size. If it says “file too small”, the form probably has a minimum; the exam resizer can meet both limits at once. If the portal rejects the format, make sure you uploaded the downloaded .jpg and not the original HEIC or PNG.
